Custom Stock Sheets for all your Craft Activities!

A friend of mine is a Nanny, this is a job she has been doing for quite awhile now and has a lot of experience with children, especially considering they grow up and she has to move from child to child. One thing the kids always want to do or be involved with is arts and crafts projects and activities. For Thanksgiving she usually does one of those “hand print” turkeys where you trace the child’s hand on printable papers. She then places glue along the outline of the turkey and lets the child put feathers on the “turkey”, gems, stickers and whatever else the child wants.

Children LOVE this stuff. It’s all about letting them customize the drawing or the activity. It makes them feel important because they feel like big kids! For Christmas she will either draw an outline of a tree herself or if the child can do it on their own she will let them draw it. Then, she lets them decorate the printable paper with all the fixings like stickers, stars, glitter and anything else the child wants. A few weeks ago it was the child’s parents’ anniversary. They had been married for 25 years (happily).

So she bought some heavy weight paper, and let him make a painted hand print project which he then painted and signed with his name on his own. She then got a matte for the picture and a really nice frame and gave it to them as “his” gift. Very cute! In my opinion, though you can’t just use ANY paper for any project. You are going to have to use certain kinds of paper for certain activities. If you guys are printing something on the printer, you might want to look into printable paper and heavyweight paper.

These are papers that obviously can be printed on with various types of printers available on the market right now and they also will be durable enough to layer multiple colors onto the paper – great for customized cards to Mom and Dad. On the other hand, if you are doing handmade Turkey’s, drawings, sequins or anything else like that, you might want to look into buying custom stock sheets which will let you choose from different colors and different materials such as construction paper, glossy, matte, tracing paper, etc.

This isn’t just about looks, it’s also about thickness and quality as well. For drawings and paintings, you probably won’t have to go with a thicker or heavyweight paper. Instead, you could go more customized or you could go a little thinner on the thickness. And finally, you will also want to take a look at various custom paper size options as well. Aqua Sand Kids Arts And Crafts Toy For Children

As a parent I know that I am always on the lookout for new toys that I think my children may enjoy. One such toy that I think is worth a good look at is a product called Aqua Sand. This is really a unique arts and crafts toys, and it is better seen in action that describing. Basically it is a specially formulated sand that is dry when out of the water and it looks and feels like real sand. But when this material is poured in water it clumps together so it can be shaped for formed with only your imagination as the limit. All they do is pour the dry Aqua Sand in to the water and then it will clump together so you can form it make shapes out of it. You can buy Aqua Sand in colored bottles and take it home to play with it. All you really need is a tupper ware bowl that is large enough so that creations can be formed under the water. Remember, the sand will only form if it is submerged in water, so make sure the bowl you use is large enough to do this. If you want to be more fancy there are special kits you can buy for making specialty projects. The company offers two such kits in the Creation Kit Ocean Adventure, and the Mermaid Kit. These kits come with a special clear bowl where you mix the sand, and it also comes with other objects to match the particular theme. One item that is necessary is the special scoop and rake, so make sure whatever kit or bottles you purchase come with these utilities. Most parents and kids really love this arts and crafts toy. The theme kits are really not that necessary as you can provide your own bowl to play with the Aqua Sand. Over the years of teaching people craft activities I have come to find the best ways to learn a craft. Whatever the craft technique, whatever the project, follow these and you will ll be well on your way to completing your best project yet! 1. Find something you love to do. Obvious really! We learn best when we are doing something we want to. Choose a project that rocks your boat or challenges you. Either way, it has to be something you want to make. 2. If you have chosen something you love then you will stick at it even when things get tough. You will find your own solutions to whatever problem comes your way. 3. We are often not tempted by things that are not of interest but be ready to try new ideas where you can try your hand at other techniques. 4. If you give up on the project you have chosen then the problem was either bigger than your enthusiasm to succeed, or the wrong project for you at this time. It is easy to waste time trying to work through things that do not come together easily. Allow yourself some more time to figure things out and come back to it later if that suits you better. 5. Do not blame yourself if it was hard to understand. It is most likely that the Writer has failed to put the instructions in a way that is easy to follow. Most of the time our ability to know what they mean is based on their ability to explain things properly. Read things again and share it with someone else. If something crucial is missing, then give it a miss. 6. Next time choose a different level or a different presentation style/layout. It may be that you jumped into something you were not quite ready for and carried away by your great enthusiasm. There are a number of options. Try a different craft, or a different way of learning. 7. The best way to learn a craft is to match your preferred way of learning (either reading or watching), with the best style of Craft Teaching. Valentine’s Day Cards Age suitability: 6+ You will need: cardboard, a selection of suitable magazines and newspapers

Make the most of Valentine’s Day by fashioning some eccentric and original cards. To send an anonymous card, create a message of love using cut-out letters and words from newspapers and magazines and sticking them on to a red paper heart. If you would prefer to give your Valentine a clue who you are, find photos of yourself that you no longer need and cut them up to make a Picasso-style face with lips sticking out of an ear, eyes skew-whiff and an upside-down nose floating in a corner.

April Fools’ Day

Practical Joke Ideas Children all over the world love April Fool’s Day and, although the tricks are supposed to end at midday on April 1, your child may like to make the most of the only day of the year that you can be naughty and get away with it by playing tricks right up to bedtime. Here are some favourites for your children’s eyes only!

- Start at breakfast by removing the inside bag of a cereal box and swapping it with another one. Just as someone is expecting Shreddies in their bowl, they will pour out Cheerios instead.

- Offer to make a cup of coffee for someone, but only use cold water when you do.

- Before lunch, stick some Sellotape to the top and bottom of the fridge door so that it won’t open.

- Reset all the alarm clocks in the house to go off at 1.30pm. (Remember to reset them before school on Monday!)

- If dad wants to watch some sport on the TV that afternoon, be sure to remove the batteries from the remote control. Write “Happy April Fool’s Day” on a piece of paper, fold it up carefully and stuff it into the battery compartment instead.

- In France, pranksters stick paper fishes on to unsuspecting people’s backs. See if you can do the same, but with messages on. Things like “I never wash” or “Tell me I’m gorgeous”.

- Before bed, put a hairbrush, apple or something else a bit lumpy under someone’s sheet so that they will get another top surprise before the day comes to an end. Have fun!

Shatterproof Christmas Baubles Age suitability: 4+ You will need: polystyrene balls, scraps of material, PVA glue, ribbon, thread and a pin

Buy polystyrene balls from any craft shop and decorate with fabric scraps: glue a small cloth circle on to each end, then working towards the middle, stick on overlapping strips of different materials. Finish off with a piece of ribbon around the middle and attach a loop of thread with a pin at the top. If you don’t have any material, use shiny coloured paper instead.

Celebrity Santa Age suitability: 4+ You will need: photos of celebrities, cotton-wool, cardboard, glitter, glue, scissors

It’s never too early for Celebrity Santa! Let your child search the internet for images of their favourite TV characters or sportsmen, then print them out. Cut around the figures and stick them on the front of a piece of folded card. Now give them a Santa makeover. Glue on cotton-wool beards and red hats; a touch of glitter on David Beckham’s shirt or some antlers on Bart Simpson’s skateboard will add to the disguise. Hand them out to school friends at the end of term.

The idea of arts & crafts for children is something that you really should have. If your kids talk about being bored, then you can really give your children something to do away from the computer games while helping them grow with crafts. Many parents do not advise to you how important arts & crafts are for helping them grow as individuals.

When you do crafts, it is important to remember that some arts & crafts have age limits. This is due to the things you use and the time that is needed. Lets give you a few of those ideas for different age categories that really benefit from completing arts & crafts.

Lets start with preschoolers. Now, with preschoolers, you will have to provide a lot of assistance. Yet, arts & crafts such as gluing things on is a great thing to work with them on. For instance, one that we like to do is cutting out the outline of a butterfly then allowing them to glue things to the butterfly which are quite vibrant in colors.

Something that we like to do with kindergartners is to create items that they can play with when arts & craft time is over. Something that we have found for this age is that making hand puppets is fun. They can cut out the pieces to create the eyes and so forth and then glue the facial features on. This is one form ofarts & craft you can do with your children.

The last age is the elementary school age. You will find that when a child enters the classroom, they can incorporate colors with their projects. You tell them to use a color and they will use it. Something that we like to do in terms of crafts with this age though is helping them to think multi dimensional. For them, you might try to have them craft things out of clay or even with beads like creating jewelry. All of these things help them with that.

One thing that many of us want is to find cool projects that we can do. Something that our kids found very cool are spider webs that you let them create the web part out of glue and coat it with glitter. From here, then while that is drying you can help them make the spider for their spider web.

We have found that what happens when you help children to do craft projects it allows them to display their creative side that everyone has. You see what colors they like. You see the dimensions that they work in. Then, you can see the true side of them come out.
